The tower has been home to the archaeological section of the Civic Museum since 2001, with evidence of the Roman city of Castrum Novum Piceni, founded by the Romans in 290 BC. Among the most important finds are the decorated lamps produced in Castrum and shipped from the port, reaching the far corners of the Empire.
6 – The Caliscendi
Giulianova’s response to the Trabocchi of the Teatina coast. These small shacks are located on the south pier of Giulianova and have long wooden planks that extend out into the sea, to which fishermen hang their nets. The caliscendi, in the local dialect of calescinne, are a unique attraction to relive the art of fishing as it was once done.
